Welcome to my world of amateur radio! I’m Kobie van Zyl, a licensed radio amateur operating under the call signs ZS6KVZ and ZR6X, deeply passionate about the captivating realm of radio communication.

Amateur radio isn't just a hobby—it’s a technical passion and a voluntary public service that operates within designated radio frequencies. It’s more than exchanging messages; it's a platform for wireless experimentation, continual self-improvement, and a vital means for emergency communications.

My journey in this fascinating realm began with earning my RAE in 2020 and obtaining my first call sign, ZS6KVZ. Since then, I've been an active enthusiast, continuously exploring the waves and frequencies, engaging with fellow enthusiasts, and experiencing the world through the lens of radio communication.

This enthralling world of amateur radio operates under international treaty, and in South Africa, the South African Radio League (SARL) serves as the national organization for enthusiasts like myself. The SARL provides an invaluable platform for us to connect, share knowledge, and actively participate in various engaging activities, from contests to field days and special events. Moreover, it's through the SARL's examinations that I acquired my license, empowering me to contribute and partake in this dynamic community.

My dedication and passion for this field have led me to achieve several accolades and awards, including the prestigious "Master of Radio Communication" titles for South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, along with notable recognitions such as the DX World Award, United States Award, and United States Counties Award.

Through my dedication to this craft, I've gathered a spectrum of endorsements across bands and modes, showcasing my versatility and commitment to mastering diverse aspects of radio communication.

The passion for radio communication extends far beyond the technicalities—it's about the connections forged, the skills honed, and the service provided to our communities, especially in times of need. It's not just about frequencies and certificates; it's about the relationships formed, the diverse cultures encountered, and the shared experiences woven through the airwaves.

Join me on this remarkable journey as I continue to explore, communicate, and celebrate the wonders of amateur radio. Feel free to connect, share experiences, or simply drop by for a conversation across the waves!

73s and looking forward to connecting with you soon,

Kobie van Zyl
